A Distinct and Unifying Theme - Buy Local

Typically my comments will focus on the artists we feature in the store, and the arts in general locally and regionally.

As a small downtown business owner I am particularly interested in the concept of Buy-Local and would like to share the article written by Paul Thares (Grant County Extension) that ran in the July 9th Platteville Journal. I have condensed slightly to focus on his TEN reasons for Buying Local!

The arts abound at the Driftless Market

Now that the store has opened its doors, I have been able to turn some of my attention to representing local and regional artists at the Driftless Market. Currently there are 11 participating artists with a wide range of work represented. You will find everything from mosaics :), to jewelry, wooden boxes and utensils, photography, pastel, painting, prints, handmade art cards, jewelry, ceramics and more.

Progress Continues - 5-21-07

Hello Friends of the Driftless Market, I had intended to send out these email updates on a more regular basis but seems that life has gotten a bit in the way. There is a good chance that most of the time when you go by the store someone will be there. All major equipment is in (and working :) and the shelves have been put together.

Update 4-9-08

Hello Friends of the Driftless Market,

Many of you attended an informational meeting or have been involved with the Driftless Market project. Since the first meeting held in mid March the Driftless Market team has been quite busy. One would think that this busy time would be spent locating local suppliers and getting equipment to put these supplies on and in – it has been – and much more! Since March we have busily been working towards getting estimates on everything from signage, to replacing the antique boiler in basement, to installing kitchen sinks.
